Rexx's Rune Readings
Introduction
What are runes?
Runes are, at their most basic level, the 'Viking alphabet'. They were used throughout the Viking period as a means of communication; they are easy to inscribe or carve on wood, stone and metal. Although they are letters, each rune has a poem associated with it. These poems have existed in Icelandic, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish and Anglo-Saxon cultures. Using these poems as a basis, the runes can be interpreted for divinatory (fortune telling) or counseling purposes.
How the online reading works
Shuffling
Firstly, the server shuffles a set of runes and then displays them onscreen, face down.
Normally there are 24 runes in the set that I use. Due to the restrictions of performing a reading on a computer screen, it's not possible to shuffle the runes by hand and thereby enabling runes to become inverted (upside down). In order to compensate for this, each rune is duplicated - including runes that are the same in both orientations.
If the non-invertable runes are not duplicated as well, this causes a probability skew and means that you will be less likely to pick them.
The 48 runes are arranged in a grid once shuffled (this is immediate upon opening the page).
A General reading or a Question?
If you wish to have a 'general' reading - one in which the runes represent the past, present and general guidance for the future, simply leave the question box blank, otherwise think of a question. The question must not be too vague, but then it must also not be too specific. Yes/No answers cannot really be given - think of the question as asking advice or guidance, rather than a specific answer. If you do decide on a question, type it in the box at the bottom and concentrate on the question as you pick the runes.
In order to pick the runes, simply click three of them on the grid. As you pick the runes, they will appear in the selection group at the bottom (the three blank runes). If you happen to pick a duplicate (the same rune as you have already picked, but up the other way) that duplicate will be revealed, but will not count - you simply pick another rune.
Gender selection
Whilst not totally necessary, I've supplied a gender selection. If your question is about someone else (not always wise with rune readings, as you are the one picking them) choose their gender. If it is about to your relationship with this person, choose your gender.
If the question is not about a person or anything that can be assigned a gender, you must choose your gender, as it reflects the different ways in which men and women may deal with a given situation.
Submittng the selections for a reading
Once you have at least chosen your three runes and picked a gender, the submit button becomes available. If you press this button, you will be taken onto the payment page where you have the option to pay via Paypal, either with credit/debit card or using a Paypal account if you have one.
Once the transaction is complete, the details of the reading (gender, runes and question) will be emailed to me. If you cancel the transaction those details will not be sent, and I will not receive notification.
If you complete the transaction and the details are sent, I will then do the reading at the earliest opportunity - aiming to return your reading by email within 5-7 days. It is important to specify a valid email address in the payment form, otherwise you will not receive your reading. If you have spam blocks in place, you may need to check your email manually or set the filters up so that they do not block the email. The reading will be emailed from the account listed in the payment details.
Interpretations are personally performed and written up by myself (Deane Saunders, also known on usenet as Rexx Magnus) and not computer generated. I aim to return your reading within 5-7 days, though it's often the same day unless I'm otherwise engaged. It takes about 20 minutes to write up a reading, so the fee is not unacceptably steep. Read the 'about me' page (linked below) for information on face-to-face readings and events attended by myself.
