No doubt you are
wondering what these writings are all about? Then I shall explain.
Over a year ago, several people left Earthsea, in search of new horizons.
Some landed on the shores of Britannia, others passed even further to
other lands far beyond the horizons.
Many of us brought our knowledge of herbs, magic and other lore with us,
though we were to learn that our magic did not work in the same way in
these new lands. However, many of the plants that were prevalent in Earthsea
also exist in Britannia - so I have taken it upon myself to catalogue
the major plants and trees of Britannia, along with their associated plant-lore.
Due to the nature
of much of the plant-lore, many of the place names have been changed to
match local Sosarian origins, where I could not find any references "in
the field" I have turned to Lord British's extensive library of reference
books, many of which apparently came from a land called "Earth"
- where Lord British himself is rumoured to come from. Some plants seem
to have no Britannian lore associated, or simply bear close resemblance
to those I know from elsewhere, so in those cases I have cited examples
of similar plant life.
